Lene Marlin @ TV2 program "Fredag"

Lene Marlin, with a brand new look and a short haircut (see pictures below), appeared yesterday evening as guest at the TV show Fredag, on the Norwegian national channel TV2. Thanks to our friend Tef Johs, we got to know that Lene talked together with TV program host Stål Talsnes and the musician colleague Inger Lise Rypdal on their ages, the reasons for getting into the pop industry business, and a little bit about their past and present doings. On this last point, Lene said she is working mostly "on behalf of others", likely referring to her recent studio work, which brought to the song "It's about time", written for Aleksander With and put on the Idol winner's latest album "Still awake".

"It's about time", the second song written by Lene for Aleksander With

In a message on her Myspace and Facebook pages, today Lene told us that recently she "disappeared" into songwriting work and she spent lots of time in recording studio.
Among the songs she wrote, one of them has been included into Aleksander With's new album, "Still awake", released a few days ago. The song is called "It's about time" and is the second song Lene wrote for the recent work of the former Norwegian Idol winner. In "Still awake" we can also find the duet "Worth it", released as a single in the past months.
Hereunder, you can find the lyrics (from aleksanderwith.no):

It's about time

Would you say that you've done things right
That there's nothing that you would do different
That you've kept what is dear inside
That your conscience is clear
That you're good
That you've always understood

What's needed of the people around you
They'll always find you
No need to look far, that's who you are

You didn't hear him scream
No one to open the door
No one to let him inside
Don't say that you've tried
You know that's a lie
You didn't hear her call
No one to answer the phone
No one to make her come home

She's out there alone, and you know why
It's about time that you try
What's the reason for absence
Did you go to the moon, are you superman
Can you explain the intolerance
Is there something you know that we never can
I don't think you understand

What's needed of the people around you
They'll never find you
No need to look far, that's who you are

New contest!

As many of you already know, Lene.it just entered its tenth year and we want to celebrate this anniversary the best way. For this reason, we are happy to announce the first celebration event, a contest where all the winners will get one of the poster made by koletz for the "Twist the truth" meet and greet in Milan last May, signed by Lene!
It is very easy to take part to the contest. We set up four categories of works. All you have to do is make something for each category you want to apply and send your work to this email address: webmaster@lene.it. Each winner of each category will get a signed poster. If no one enters a category, that poster will be given by a lottery in which all the contest participants will be involved. For the other categories, the winner will be decided by the fans through a voting system of which we will give you the details later on. The winner in one category cannot be the winner of another one, so we invite you (in case you are going to take part to more than one category) to write us your "preference order" of the categories you decide to be in. If someone will end up to win in more than one category, he or she will receive the poster related to the one he or she pointed out as preferred choice.
Works have to remain anonymous. We therefore invite you to not make them public or talk about them on forum or guestbook. Should this rule be broken, the author will be banned by the contest. The contest starts today and the contest deadline is the midnight of Dicember, 1st.
In the end, please find below the categories:

1 song or poetry lyrics: often, there is no difference between the two. There are songs which are poetries and poetries which become songs. Choose the one which fits the best to you. Max lenght: 40 lines.
2 joke on Lene: no vulgar or offensive joke will be taken into consideration.
3 freehand drawing. Computer not admitted (just to email the drawing). Free framework, tecnique and dimensions. Theme: related to Lene.
4 cooking: are you a good chef? Just send us the recipe (with ingredients and how-to-make-it steps) and a picture of your handmade dish, with a Lene CD beside it. The final vote will take into consideration both the ingredients and the aesthetic aspect of the dish.

"Worth it" - Aleksander With feat. Lene Marlin

Already back in the previous months, we reported the news of a collaboration between Lene and former Norwegian-Idol winner Aleksander With in writing a couple of songs and we hinted that probably one of them could be put into his new album. Now, the time seems to be arrived, since, on October 19th, will be released in Norway "Worth it", where Aleksander With duets with Lene. This song is the second single from With's upcoming album "Still awake".
"Worth it" will be digitally released also in Italy on October 16th and on IBS.it you can find the single cover.
Happy Birthday Lene!

It's 29 years since a wonderful little girl was born, a girl who 10 years ago lit up our hearts and is now still more radiant. On her birthday day she wanted to give us as a present a new blog on her myspace with 4 pics of her last trip to Italy, in particular at Fnac in Milan, where she released her new album in Italy.
In all the years we've been near to her, there are very few words of wishes we've not used yet, but we think feelings don't need many words to be shown. Facts count and we do believe that regarding the facts there's always been a strong mutual friendship, as the pics posted by Lene can only to some extent show.
So there's no need to use many words to tell Lene how much we love her and in such a special day we can't but wish her a world of happiness and thousand of these occasions to meet soon again.

Interview to Roberto Casalino on lene.it Myspace!

A few weeks ago, our fan Stephy pointed out on a website an interview to the Italian singer/songwriter Roberto Casalino. Besides being the author of some songs of Italian "X Factor" winner Giusy Ferreri's latest album, he just released his first solo album "L'atmosfera nascosta" ("The hidden atmosphere").
In the interview we got to know that one song of the record - "Mi manchi" ("I miss you") - has something to do with Lene. In fact, the inspiration for writing it came to Roberto while he was listening to Lene's "Another day"!
Quoting his words: "This song was born on a train. I was going to Tuscany to meet some friends of mine. I was listening to "Another day", a very gloomy and intimate album by Lene Marlin, on my Ipod. I was looking outside the window, it was raining and suddenly I got the urge to take the notebook I always bring with me. I turned my Ipod down and I wrote everything that came to my mind about a relationship ended a few months before. I immediately recorded the melody, suggested by words, on my mobile. And "Mi manchi" was born".

Lene Marlin at Milan FNAC store on May 15th!!!

Following rumours we got from EMI Italy, we checked out and got confirmation from FNAC store in Milan about a meeting of Lene Marlin and her fans scheduled on Friday, May 15th. We don't know further details yet, but, as very likely Lene will be busy releasing interviews that morning, we can suppose the meeting will be held in the afternoon, like in 2003, the year of the first huge meeting between Lene and her Italian (and not only Italian) fans.
We wish that all fans, both Italian and international, will be ready to give Lene a very warm welcome!

FNAC store in Milan is located in the city center (via della Palla 2 angolo via Torino 45), just close to Duomo square (Milan main square) .

"Twist the truth" and "Here we are" in Norwegian and Italian charts

After a #3 debut in the Norwegian album chart, in its second week Lene's fourth album "Twist the truth" slips down to #17, while the single "Here we are" steps down from #8 to #13 in its fourth week. Anyway, the radio chart results are still pretty good, as "Here we are" stands in the top3 of Hit40 chart.
But good news come from Italy, where we can find the album at #13 of the iTunes Italian chart, also thanks to the ad published in the homepage. The result is quite outstanding, as "Here we are" still hasn't got a proper intense radio airplay and the album will be out only in one month. This shows how important a good promotion strategy is, but most of all how much Lene is still loved by Italian public.

"Here WE are", a fans tribute video

On Sunday 22nd March about fifteen fans gathered to celebrate ten years from the Italian release of the first Lene album, "Playing my game". After a large meal and lots of cheers, we decided to get an idea which lasted for some time in our minds done. As in the last Lene video some fans pictures and part of videos appear... why not make a video entirely made by and with fans? A sort of remake of the video, but also a tribute to Lene and to "Here we are".
So, we started preparing everything, and fixed recordings for that day. The idea was to give to the single fan a couple of parts where Lene plays in the original video, with in between some recordings we have from previous meetings with Lene.
At the beginning everything started kinda funny and in a "light" mood, but, when recordings started, everyone tried to do his/her best and to be as "professional" as he/she could be.
The recordings went by faster than expected and everyone played his/her role in an almost perfect way.
In the following days, we chose the parts of our videos which fit the best and added some additional frames. We trusted on Andrea (speedfight) for the editing and frames synchronization and he got very quickly the final video ready, adding some funny backstage moments, and you can watch it via this link or hereunder.

We really had an incredibly good time during recordings and we would like to thank everyone who was involved and helped to make this idea become real. We know Lene liked very much the video and we hope it would be the same for all the fans! Enjoy!

Hectic Lene media days

The new Lene Marlin album "Twist the truth" will be out in few days and Nowegian promotion campaign is well under the way. On Tuesday March 24th, Lene was guest at the NRK's program "Landeplage", fully dedicated to Lene's most successful hit, "Unforgivable sinner". Lene was interviewed by Norwegian rapper Ravi, talking about how the song was born and on the three videos of the song. Beside Lene, also some other people (former Virgin manager Per Erik Johansen and "Unforgivable sinner"'s first video director Erik Poppe among them) gave their opinion on the song and why it became so much famous all over the world. In the end, Ravi tried to force Lene to reveal who this "unforgivable sinner" is, but, despite his efforts, he ended the program without knowing.
Yesterday, Lene was on TV2's "Senkveld" where she talked with the two anchormen on her current life between Oslo and London, on the song she wrote for Rihanna and on when she came up on a stage in New York to sing "My love". Then, she performed live "You will cry no more" (click here to watch - thanks to nemar).
Furthermore, today all the main Norwegian dailies reported on Lene's upcoming new album, due out on Monday, the most with a review (average mark 4/6), but on Bladet Tromsø and Dagbladet Magazine Lene got a few pages with wonderful pictures dealing with her 10 years of musical career.
We also remind you that on Monday, March 30th a web release Lene concert, composed of six songs from "Twist the truth", will be broadcasted on VG online Tv and, starting at 12 am CET, Lene will answer to some of the questions fans sent her. As last info, as pointed out by Domle, on Monday afternoon (from 4pm CET), Lene will perform at TV2 program "Waschera".

Ten years of Lene - Playing my game

Here we go with the third part of the milestones in ten years of Lene Marlin musical career!

This time we celebrate ten years from "Playing my game" Norwegian release, the CD with the blue cover featuring a young Lene picture with her bob hairdo.
Still now, "Playing my game" is her most sold record, an international success with about 2 million copies sold, and one of the most sold album ever in Norway, with a record-selling of 50 thousand copies in just three days; it went straight to the top of VG Lista chart and it got the highest mark possible in the review. After just 2 month it already exceeded 100 thousand copies sold, and in the end it sold more than 160 thousand copies (notice that Norway is populated by roughly 4.5 million inhabitants).
In Italy, the album sold about 300 thousand copies, getting 3 platinums and stayed in the charts for an entire year. In France and in UK it sold respectively about 300 thousand and 250 thousand copies, becoming double gold in UK, even though it was released only in March 2000, when Lene already decided to "disappear" from the limelight and to stop promotion activity.
Beside Europe, the album was also released in Asia, where it got a huge success, especially in Japan and Taiwan, where Lene was awarded several times.
