Lene works with other new artists

Even when it seems so quiet, Lene's music never stops and collaborations go on. After the news about Lene composing some songs with Elin Gaustad (here is the link to the single "Picking up the pieces", with Lene's backing-vocals in the chorus), the results of another collaboration are coming. This time, Lene co-worked with another young Norwegian artist, Frida Amundsen. Her first single "Closer" is already well airplayed on the radio and her album is expected to be out in stores next April. Lately, Frida's debut reached also Italy, as websites of several radio stations published "Closer" official video. But Frida is not the only artist who got the honour to work with Lene in the last months: the list also includes Autumn Rowe and Gary Louris (from the rock band "The Jayhawks") from the US and the Danish Tobias Stenkjaer. So, the last Lene trips turn out to be good chances for new music.

We would like to thank Knox for the alert and to invite all the fans to write on the forum or on our Facebook page any other news you should find on the web. Thanks so much for the collaboration!

Lene in studio, but no new album soon

We paste below the message left this morning by Lene on her Facebook page, related to some articles published a few days ago, which dealt with Lene being working in studio in New York earlier this summer. Lene confirms having spent some time in US, London and Stockholm recently, but not for the recordings of her fifth album. Nevertheless, she leaves some room open for another release from her sometimes in the future, but she does not give futher details on that.

Dear Lene, your fans are waiting for you!

Message from Lene:

<I understand there was an article a couple of days ago about me being in the studio. Yes, I'm working with songs, but not for myself. Just thought I'd make that clear so you don't have to wonder :-)

I know some of you are waiting for a new album, and when the day comes when I decide to record one I will let you know. Maybe not straight away, as it takes some time to get started (right songs, right sound etc) :-) but I won't just release one without telling you. And I promise you, I am not working on an album right now. You know me, it takes a while between releases :-)

I have been to New York, London and Stockholm lately, but that's all songwriting. Of course, some of the songs I sing myself if I'm the only singer in the room, but my involvement stops there.

I was asked by someone who had heard one of the songs if I had changed my musical style. No guitars, all synths :-) so you can imagine I have a lot of fun singing something different!

:-)

Another year goes by!

Another year goes by!
Time flies and fades memories away a bit, but the emotions which go with those moments and are now linked to them, still remain vivid. That is because minds can blur or delete entire events, but hearts hardly "forgot" important moments.
So, still today, when you happen to hear a Lene's song on the radio, the emotions you felt when you listened to it live, with Lene present, come back again and you can recall a lot of memories of events, smiles and happy moments.
Thank you, Lene, for all this! This year, our wish is actually to be able to give to us and to you new emotions soon; heart is always in need of them, more than mind does with memories!

A big thank you goes to all the fans, too, especially to the more committed ones, which contributed to create most of those moments, and also to record them!
Moreover, on August 19th, we celebrated the anniversary of our fan club, and this was the 11th, already! A big "happy birthday" to all of us, then!

Terror in Oslo - Our thoughts and prayers for the Norwegian people

A strong and sincere feeling of mourning and friendship for the victims of this terrorist attack and for all the Norwegians who are living now moments of fear and suffering.
We have walked on those streets, welcomed by friendly faces, spent so happy days... we feel close to Oslo and to Norway, now more than ever.

Lene has published a message on her Facebook page:

Young people killed by a fake police officer, a bomb exploding in the middle of the city. We will never be the same after this... My heart goes out to the people who have lost loved ones, and the people who pray to keep theirs. I know there are a lot of people seriously hurt, let's pray for them!

I heard the blast from where I live. And right now there are helicopters going back and forth to hospitals. I have a few friends that came to my home hours ago. One of them was supposed to be in the area waiting for my other friends to pick him up in their car, but left to go buy a present. His luggage is still at the train station after coming to Oslo today. That station is now evacuated. All of them are safe, and in my home right now.

We don't know yet who is behind this. And let's not assume anything. We should not contribute to fear! I'm with friends and loved ones, and those who are not here I have talked to, told them we are safe, and that I love them.

Dear Lene, our heart is close to yours and to those of all the Norwegian people. The physical distance has never made us feel far from you and your country, and neither does it today. A hug from your fanclub!

A new message from Lene!

After several months, Lene wrote again on her Facebook page. No announcements about a new album out soon, but Lene has not lost her willing to write music and co-work with other musicians and producers. She tells us she wants to stay far from the spotlight and to enjoy the summer –full of music– which is about to start! Here's the message:

Hope you're well! Haven't posted anything in a while. I swear, it's almost like I was supposed to live in the stone age or something :-) I'm not on Twitter, hardly on email and don't like too talk on the phone too much. Well, that's me :-)

Anyway, I AM here - just not so visible at times! Working a lot, writing songs and having fun in the studio. Meeting lots of great songwriters and producers. However, I don't plan a new album just yet. I know some of you want to know. Although I don't plan anything, I still need to write music. So that's what I do, and will be doing for the next few months as well.

I'm enjoying the sun these days, knowing that winter is over for now! Hope you're all happy too :-)

Lene Marlin co-wrote two songs with Elin Gaustad

As reported by a few newspapers these days, we got to know about a new collaboration of Lene, this time with Elin Gaustad, a Norwegian singer who took part to Norwegian X Factor last year. Elin's first album, called "Whole new beginning", will be out in stores on the upcoming Monday, October 4th. Lene co-wrote the title track, "Whole new beginning" and another song, "Picking up the pieces".

We remind you the latest Lene collaboration with another Norwegian artist, Aleksander With: their duet, "Worth It", reached the highest places of Norwegian charts.

Lene Marlin @ TV2 program "Fredag"

Lene Marlin, with a brand new look and a short haircut (see pictures below), appeared yesterday evening as guest at the TV show Fredag, on the Norwegian national channel TV2. Thanks to our friend Tef Johs, we got to know that Lene talked together with TV program host Stål Talsnes and the musician colleague Inger Lise Rypdal on their ages, the reasons for getting into the pop industry business, and a little bit about their past and present doings. On this last point, Lene said she is working mostly "on behalf of others", likely referring to her recent studio work, which brought to the song "It's about time", written for Aleksander With and put on the Idol winner's latest album "Still awake".

"It's about time", the second song written by Lene for Aleksander With

In a message on her Myspace and Facebook pages, today Lene told us that recently she "disappeared" into songwriting work and she spent lots of time in recording studio.
Among the songs she wrote, one of them has been included into Aleksander With's new album, "Still awake", released a few days ago. The song is called "It's about time" and is the second song Lene wrote for the recent work of the former Norwegian Idol winner. In "Still awake" we can also find the duet "Worth it", released as a single in the past months.
Hereunder, you can find the lyrics (from aleksanderwith.no):

It's about time

Would you say that you've done things right
That there's nothing that you would do different
That you've kept what is dear inside
That your conscience is clear
That you're good
That you've always understood

What's needed of the people around you
They'll always find you
No need to look far, that's who you are

You didn't hear him scream
No one to open the door
No one to let him inside
Don't say that you've tried
You know that's a lie
You didn't hear her call
No one to answer the phone
No one to make her come home

She's out there alone, and you know why
It's about time that you try
What's the reason for absence
Did you go to the moon, are you superman
Can you explain the intolerance
Is there something you know that we never can
I don't think you understand

What's needed of the people around you
They'll never find you
No need to look far, that's who you are

Last spring Lene Marlin fourth album was released in Norway and Italy. In a few days, on November 27th exactly, "Twist the truth" will be out in Germany. The news is highlighted on EMI Music Germany website.
New contest!

As many of you already know, Lene.it just entered its tenth year and we want to celebrate this anniversary the best way. For this reason, we are happy to announce the first celebration event, a contest where all the winners will get one of the poster made by koletz for the "Twist the truth" meet and greet in Milan last May, signed by Lene!
It is very easy to take part to the contest. We set up four categories of works. All you have to do is make something for each category you want to apply and send your work to this email address: webmaster@lene.it. Each winner of each category will get a signed poster. If no one enters a category, that poster will be given by a lottery in which all the contest participants will be involved. For the other categories, the winner will be decided by the fans through a voting system of which we will give you the details later on. The winner in one category cannot be the winner of another one, so we invite you (in case you are going to take part to more than one category) to write us your "preference order" of the categories you decide to be in. If someone will end up to win in more than one category, he or she will receive the poster related to the one he or she pointed out as preferred choice.
Works have to remain anonymous. We therefore invite you to not make them public or talk about them on forum or guestbook. Should this rule be broken, the author will be banned by the contest. The contest starts today and the contest deadline is the midnight of Dicember, 1st.
In the end, please find below the categories:

1 song or poetry lyrics: often, there is no difference between the two. There are songs which are poetries and poetries which become songs. Choose the one which fits the best to you. Max lenght: 40 lines.
2 joke on Lene: no vulgar or offensive joke will be taken into consideration.
3 freehand drawing. Computer not admitted (just to email the drawing). Free framework, tecnique and dimensions. Theme: related to Lene.
4 cooking: are you a good chef? Just send us the recipe (with ingredients and how-to-make-it steps) and a picture of your handmade dish, with a Lene CD beside it. The final vote will take into consideration both the ingredients and the aesthetic aspect of the dish.

"Worth it" - Aleksander With feat. Lene Marlin

Already back in the previous months, we reported the news of a collaboration between Lene and former Norwegian-Idol winner Aleksander With in writing a couple of songs and we hinted that probably one of them could be put into his new album. Now, the time seems to be arrived, since, on October 19th, will be released in Norway "Worth it", where Aleksander With duets with Lene. This song is the second single from With's upcoming album "Still awake".
"Worth it" will be digitally released also in Italy on October 16th and on IBS.it you can find the single cover. For a pre-listening check out amazon.fr (even though the clip doesn't contain the part where Lene is singing).
Thanks Andrea for pointing this news out.

Happy Birthday Lene!

It's 29 years since a wonderful little girl was born, a girl who 10 years ago lit up our hearts and is now still more radiant. On her birthday day she wanted to give us as a present a new blog on her myspace with 4 pics of her last trip to Italy, in particular at Fnac in Milan, where she released her new album in Italy.
In all the years we've been near to her, there are very few words of wishes we've not used yet, but we think feelings don't need many words to be shown. Facts count and we do believe that regarding the facts there's always been a strong mutual friendship, as the pics posted by Lene can only to some extent show.
So there's no need to use many words to tell Lene how much we love her and in such a special day we can't but wish her a world of happiness and thousand of these occasions to meet soon again.

Interview to Roberto Casalino on lene.it Myspace!

A few weeks ago, our fan Stephy pointed out on a website an interview to the Italian singer/songwriter Roberto Casalino. Besides being the author of some songs of Italian "X Factor" winner Giusy Ferreri's latest album, he just released his first solo album "L'atmosfera nascosta" ("The hidden atmosphere").
In the interview we got to know that one song of the record - "Mi manchi" ("I miss you") - has something to do with Lene. In fact, the inspiration for writing it came to Roberto while he was listening to Lene's "Another day"!
Quoting his words: "This song was born on a train. I was going to Tuscany to meet some friends of mine. I was listening to "Another day", a very gloomy and intimate album by Lene Marlin, on my Ipod. I was looking outside the window, it was raining and suddenly I got the urge to take the notebook I always bring with me. I turned my Ipod down and I wrote everything that came to my mind about a relationship ended a few months before. I immediately recorded the melody, suggested by words, on my mobile. And "Mi manchi" was born".

Taiwan is getting ready to welcome Lene

On May 15th "Twist the truth" was released both in Italy and in Taiwan, so now, as Italian promotion is over, let's have a look on some details about the Taiwanese release. First of all, you can find hereunder the album cover and here the back; furthermore, our fans pointed out what seems to be the official Taiwanese site to promote the album and - as can be supposed by the video - "Here we are" is part of the soundtrack of the Taiwanese version of the movie "I've loved you so long", which already won several international awards in 2008 and is scheduled to be out in Taiwan on the upcoming June 12th.

Lene Marlin at Milan FNAC store on May 15th!!!

Following rumours we got from EMI Italy, we checked out and got confirmation from FNAC store in Milan about a meeting of Lene Marlin and her fans scheduled on Friday, May 15th. We don't know further details yet, but, as very likely Lene will be busy releasing interviews that morning, we can suppose the meeting will be held in the afternoon, like in 2003, the year of the first huge meeting between Lene and her Italian (and not only Italian) fans.
We wish that all fans, both Italian and international, will be ready to give Lene a very warm welcome!

FNAC store in Milan is located in the city center (via della Palla 2 angolo via Torino 45), just close to Duomo square (Milan main square) .
